Who am I?

Within the SCA I am know as Æríkr inn Hárfagri, a Swedish viking. I have been playing since 1996 but it took a few years before I started doing anything seriously, probably around 2000-2001. I then started doing archery, shortly followed by fencing and heavy fighting. Brewing kind of sneaked up on me, the same with making jewelry and chainmail. Nowadays I rarely get the time to do archery even though I own a few bows, one which I have made myself.

Arts and Science

I am apprenticed to Mistress Melisende Fitzwalter and I have the rank as Master brewer in Nordmark's brewers guild. My speciality is spontanious fermentation in mead but lately working on brewing beer and understanding the impact brewing and beer had on the society as a whole between 600 and 1600. Knowing why they drank beer/mead etc. and how is very interesting, a subject we might never know completely but is nonetheless interesting. Apart from making alcoholic beverages there is also the area of making jewelry which came like a bonus when I started making chainmail. I do not put in as much effort in researching (although I use historical techniques) as I do into brewing, it is mostly something I do for fun and because it's pretty.

Fencing

I am one of the three permiers in Drachenwald of the Order of Defence which is the new peerage order within the SCA, which is the highest award there is.Also I am a member of the Order of the Dragon's steel and a prefect in Drachenwald's Academy of Defence. I have also been the fencing marshal of Nordmark for a few years but now I'm retired from that post and just a fellow fencer and fencing marshal. Also the winner of the first Dragon's steel tournament ever held in Drachenwald. My favourite weapon combination is rapier and soft parry (cloak). Although I like almost every kind that I've tried.

Heavy fighting

Currently, I am the local marshal in my shire and also squire to Viscount Gilliam Blackhorn, I have ruled Nordmark twice as Prince by right of arms which has given me the title Viscount (it only takes one time on the throne though). The first time with Viscountess Fillippa Birgersdotter and the second time with my love Viscountess Jacquelyna de Bellmont. My favourite combination is sword and shield (centergrip) although I practice with two stick, sword and buckler, polearm/great sword on occassions and have recently picked up spear.
